In 2001 in Japan, he became the only swimmer that has won six gold medals at a World Championship. Currently, the Australian receives more than U.S. $2.5 million per year from endorsements. Among Thorpe’s sponsors stand out Adidas AG, Omega, Audi AG and Accor SA. Plus, he has a contract with a food company that sales a range of products under the brand of Thorpedo, as he is also known.
