Placing the Six and Eight

This system is very simple once you know what a place bet is and what it means. You can play it at almost any crap table in the world but you have to be very careful in some countries, such as in some Latin American jeux casino where they pay even money on the 6 and 8. Always ask about placing the 6 and 8 wherever you go. If you’re told it’s an even money bet, do not play this method in that club. You are really getting the worst of it. Never bet the BIG 6 or 8.

You must give the dealer a minimum of $12 to place the 6 and 8. You should receive $7 for every $6 you put up. The correct odds are 6 to 5 on the 6 and 8 but that is only if you have a Pass line or a Come line bet. In making a place bet, the shooter must make the 6 or 8 only once for you to be paid. Actually, the true odds are $7.20 to $6, but you give up 20 cents to make your bet for the shooter to make it once. You are giving up about 11/2 percent on every bet you make on a 6 and 8, which isn’t too bad. It’s the second best bet on the dice layout for a right bettor. All you have to know is for every $6 you put up you would receive $7 in return. Smaller clubs often deal a $3 minimum for the 6 and 8. In those clubs, you should receive $3.50 in return. You’ll win your bet when the shooter makes either the 6 or 8 before a 7.

Again, never bet more when you lose. Too many people have a tendency when losing to try to catchup by betting more. Usually that Just gets you deeper in the hole. If you’re not sure of yourself, try a minimum $6 bet on each the 6 and 8. If either the 6 or 8 ismade, tell the croupier, “Press it.” You will receive $1 back. This means you are now betting $12 on whichever number was made. If the $12 number (6 or 8) is made, tell the dealer, “Same bet.” He will give you $14 in return and let $12 ride. Now you are betting with the club’s money. Forget about the previous plays— whether you won or lost—every shooter is a new play. Now, if 6s and 8s are being made, steadily bet it up, bet it up. You now can safely press your bets in varying amounts, depending on your nerve. If you say, “Press it again,” your bet will go up to $24. Or, for example, you could press it $6, boosting your bet to $18.

At the start of your play you must tell the dealer, “My place bets always work on the comeout.” This is a very important bit of instruction for the dealer in placing the 6 and 8. In all jeux casino , when the shooter makes the line point and is coming out for a new point, all place bets are automatically off until the shooter has a point or new number. If the shooter makes either a 6 or 8 on the comeout roll, you will not be paid. It’s a standoff. But if your place bets “work” on the comeout roll, you will be paid if a 6 or 8 is thrown. If a 7 is thrown on the comeout roll, you’ll lose both place bets.

By placing the 6 and 8 and letting the place bets work on the comeout, you have the best of the bet, because there are ten ways to make a 6 and 8 with the dice and only 6 ways to make a 7. The odds are therefore 5 to 3 in your favor that a 6 or 8 will be made before a 7 is thrown. If the shooters are making 6s and 8s and you’re winning, raise your• minimum bet to a higher level. Try to win more. You always can go back to your first minimum bet.
