The main aim of the game is to try and make the cards total, or get as close a score to 21 as you can using 2 or more cards, Face cards (Kings, Queens and Jacks) are all worth 10 points and Ace cards can be counted as either as 1 or 11, all other cards are worth their numerical value. If you go over 21 then your bust and its game over, you need to beat the dealer without going bust.
