The Club 3000 in Coatbridge erupted with Bingo players jumping up and down and cheering when it was announced that Soraya Lowell had won the National Bingo Game and the Platinum Jackpot, scooping a whopping £1,167,795. "It just won't sink in yet," said the mother of four."I haven't slept at all but I will be back at work on Tuesday as usual. I clean offices until 1.30am and I don't intend to give up my job. I have three daughters and a son to help me spend it. The two oldest want convertibles and don't even have licences yet!" "This is our second millionaire in eight weeks," said Steve Baldwin of the National Bingo Game. "We are thrilled for Soraya and look forward to presenting her with her record breaking cheque." Only eight weeks earlier, Christine Bradfield, a garage worker from Bargoed, Caerphilly, made Bingo news after scooping a whopping £1.1m. The 53-year-old mum of two won the National Bingo Game's fPlatinum Jackpot on Sunday night at the Castle Club in Merthyr Tydfil. "The place erupted. Everyone went absolutely crazy," remembers the club's general manager Mike Wiltshire, who was calling the numbers that made Christine rich. "I won't be giving up work. I couldn't be at home or I'd be out shopping all the time," said the Bingo jackpot queen. "I just love the game. I have been playing since I was 18 and I won't stop now." Britain's first Bingo millionaire is Pearl Shearer from Glasgow who won a million pound in September 2007, just three weeks after losing her job at a biscuit factory. The 46-year-old mother of two played the game for thirty years before landing the jackpot at the Mecca Club in Parkhead. "Number 34 came out," remembers the lucky lady. "Then my heart came up to my mouth and down again. I said to my mum, 'I'm waiting on number one'. And I just turned round to everybody and I says, 'I'm waiting on number one'. And just as that, the number came out. Then the whole hall was in an uproar. That was it. It was just shock after that. I just went into a state of shock. I think we would like a nice big house for us all and a nice holiday." Big Bingo wins have been made possible by the National Bingo Gaming Association which links Bingo halls around the country to boost potential wins.
