These Pointspreads Are Food For Thought!

I’m falling all over myself these days as my mind is swirling 24/7 thanks to the upcoming College Football season and like all of you I am looking for that diamond in the rough this weekend. I have been all over the USC – Arkansas match-up for months and truly believe that the Trojans are walking into a hornet’s nest!

In Georgia, the line on the Notre Dame - Georgia Tech game has me looking the Yellow Jackets’ way as considering how much publicity Charlie Weiss, Brady Quinn, and the boys have been getting, I thought the Irish would be -10. The line is fluctuating between -7 and -8 and this tells me that the wise guys respect Georgia Tech. If you’re going to do some sports betting on this game, you might want to check out the odds first.

A lot of experts are touting TCU, for all the right reasons, as a strong player again this year as they head into Waco, Texas for a battle with the Baylor Bears. Guy Morris is putting together a strong program at Baylor and his troops will be a great underdog all year long especially in the opener getting + 7.

What’s going on out in California where two schools who played very well in 2006, are not getting a lot of respect. UCLA is at home and welcoming in Mountain West opponent, Utah. The line is incredibly low at -4 ½ and this suggests to me that UCLA has all kinds of issues. They must replace a stud runner in Drew and All-World tight end Mercedes Lewis and have new coordinators on both sides of the ball.

Former Oklahoma transfer Brent Ratliff will be flinging the balls around the Rose Bowl and the Utes beat BYU and Georgia Tech to close out 2006, so maybe the dog barks here!

Cal is predicted in many publications to be a serious contender for the PAC 10 crown as they head into Knoxville for a date with the Vols of Tennessee. The SEC Volunteers were awful last year and I guess the sportsbooks think they will bounce back since they have been installed as -2 picks.

In Tuscon, Mike Stoops is reported to have a very talented Cats team and they welcome BYU who brings a stud quarterback named John Beck. The spread here is a whopping – 6 ½ and are you telling me that Arizona is that much better than UCLA when looking at the two spreads? It’s lines like these that give football betting that extra edge.
